WHAT IS YOUR ALIAS?
I have a couple of Alias. it just depend how well you know me which migh be a good or bad thing hahaha. But GOLDI GOLD is the sure shot!!
WHERE ARE YOU FROM?
I reside in Atlanta but I from New jersey
WHAT DO YOU DO IN LIFE IN ORDER FOR YOUR WORLD TO ROTATE?
I try to a positive but realistic out look with things in my life.. Stay calm and letting situation handle it self if the situation actually permit those actions. But I’m not scared to mud wrestle to establish a bit of order. hahaha
DO YOU LOVE WHAT YOU DO? AND WHAT ARE YOUR GOALS FOR IT?
I can’t help to love what I do. Anything that you put your energy or whole heart into should be loved. My goals are constanly growing for my art as I learn new ways to express myself to myself and the people!!
WHAT KEEPS YOU CONSTANTLY DIVERSIFYING YOUR WORK?
life in general. Just absorbing what it has to offer and embracing the expreience with a open eye and heart.
Sometimes it’s hard because we as artist can be stuck in our ways that’s excepted by the masses.
WHO ARE YOUR INFLUENCES?
Wow! Too many to mention. My cipher of peope I now are pretty dope. Their skills of what they do range from A to Z but when it boil down to it. The foundation always the same just trying to be the best at what the do
WHAT DO YOU DO WHEN YOU’RE IN A CREATIVE RUT?
Yea! I’m in that rut right now. Hahahah. I just read and absorb a lot movies. I’ve been watching
a lot of kitchen nightmare. Anything that’s some what in my field of art just to spark different part
of my brain. But my biggest inspirationis watching my peers working hard at their creation
WHEN DID YOU KNOW YOU HAD A TALENT FOR WHAT YOU DO?
I’m constantly trying to challenge myself and grow so I usulally over look myself 9 times of 10 of my talents but It’s always when another artist I’m a big fan of tell me their a fan of my work. Then when i think “I must be aight” Then I pop my collar. hahaha
WHAT KIND OF MUSIC MOTIVATES YOU?
Good music all day. And I’m not talking about the label. hahaha. But I’m consumed by a fly track and creative lyrics by any form of music. i’m surrounded by so many dope musical artist in the ATL that it’s easy just to listen to their stuff without checking the so so stuff online or on the radio.
NAME 5 THINGS YOU CANT LIVE WITHOUT?
Food, water, oxygen, art and the laddddiiieeessss!!!! hahaha
WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR GREATEST ACHIEVEMENT SO FAR?
Maybe creating that image that’s being represent for Troy Davis and his case globally. But anything for a worthy cause to help the movement is priceless to me. It just come off as a reflection of how powerful art is when it’s back up by the people
IF YOU DIDN’T CREATE ART WORK WHAT WOULD YOU BE DOING?
I’m use to rhyme like every other person in jersey. hahaha. But I was into heavy. I guess I would've been part of the ATL movement trying to be really heard and seen while be a karate teacher or something. hahaha
IF YOU HAD 3 WISHES WHAT WOULD THEY BE?
I would wish my moms to have 100% of her sight again. Second to Hang with my dude Jax for one extra day because I know his passing was for a reason. Third for everybody on this planet to have a moment of peace in their mind. That shit just the outlook of life forever
WHO ARE SOME OF YOUR FAVORITE ARTIST?
Fluxwonda, Kermin middleton, Mr. Soul, Shah wonder, Mr. Will Feagins Jr., Brandi Pettijohn, lex boogie just a lot of people That inspire me, know and just work hard with love of their craft by any means
WHAT IS THE OLDEST THING IN YOUR CLOSET?
I hope it’s not food. hahaha. But I have stacks upon stacks of magazines so I know I have some vintage ish up in there
DESCRIBE YOURSELF IN 2 WORDS?
TRUE VIRGO
YOUR PAINTINGS ARE ALWAYS SO VIVID. WHEN YOU PAINT, WHAT MAKES YOU CHOOSE THE COLORS THAT YOU USE?
It’s actually all digital art except the painting my people fluxwonda and I work together on. But color is very important to me.
It create the mood that people can relate to even when they don’t know it. I’ll know out artwork and take longer trying to figure out the colors to make it really pop!!
IF YOU COULD HAVE A THEME SONG PLAY WHILE U WALKED WHAT SONG WOULD IT BE? WHY?
Man! My ipod would have to be on shuffle hahaha! To many songs define me. Plus I wouldn’t want everybody know I was coming if they heard my theme song. hahaha. it makes like more interesting
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE QUOTE? WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO YOU?
I guess the one I gave myself “I’m not the best at what I do. But I’m the best at what I do” Nothing new in life but that don’t mean you can’t be the best atit or tell yourself this.
WHAT GOES THROUGH YOUR HEAD WHEN YOU SEE YOU’RE WORK AFTER ITS FINISHED?
Usually wondering “did I make the lines in the artwork thick enough?” Smh. I try not to think about it too tough so I can move own to the next project. You can easily be captivated by how dope your artwork look when it’s done that you end up letting that one work define how great you are. The real test is to see if you have the same feeling for that artwork 10 years down the line when you look back it.
WHERE DO YOU SEE YOUR ART WORK IN 3 YRS?
I don’t really know. It’s so many ways to express your art now a days. But where ever it comes up. I hope the people who know me or of ne see plenty of growth with my artwork
WHATS YOUR DEFINITION OF SOMEONE BEING “ARTISICALLY DRIVEN”?
Going hard and putting out some very dope thought provoking work while still having time to help your people out when there in need with their project or life in general.
WHATS THE BEST TIME OF THE DAY FOR YOU? WHY?
It got to be a few hours before the sun comes up. The calm outside. Everything silent. It often feels like your the only person in the world working and just watching the night slowly enter the day. You’ve experience or watch today convert into tomorrow.
HOW DID YOU GET THE NAME GOLDI GOLD?
Easy. My first name is actually Golden. I use to rhyme back in the days so that’s the name i gave myself. When i moved to Atlanta that’s the name i stuck with for my art Hey! If ain’t broke. keep playing with it. hahaha
WHAT IS IT THAT YOU LOVE ABOUT ATLANTA LIFE?
Beside the lovely crazy ladies. hahaha. The people all day. They actually greet you when they see you in the streets and the massive amount of people trying to be somebody. It’s always a good thing to witness or be a part of. It might not have that up north pace but give you time to really think before making that major plans in life.
ARE YOU HAPPY WITH ALL THAT YOU HAVE?
I feel good! I have my moments like everybody else. Right now I know I’m kinda short changing myself and others with my art but that’s about to change. I just know you gotta appreciate what little you have because somebody don’t have it or wishing for it.
HOW MANY SHOWS HAS YOUR ART WORK BEEN IN? WHEN YOU FINISH A PIECE WHAT HELPS YOU COME UP WITH A PRICE TO SELL IT FOR?
Man! I was trying to figure this out the other day. I just have to say “A LOT” hahaha. I would really have to go through my artwork to figure out the number of shows because I usually try to create new artwork at each show. The pricing is usually based on the the time I put in
the piece but mostly how i present it. If I get my art printed on canvas then get the custom framing the price of sell will be much higher butyou will have a original on your hand.
HAVE YOU EVER CREATED ARTWORK THAT YOU COULDN’T SELL BECAUSE YOU LOVED IT SO MUCH?
It just depends on the visuals. I think that’s why I create art with people I know it. Because I can easily pass it to them after a while or if they can’t afford
at the time
HOW IMPORTANT IN YOUR OPINON IS ART TO THE YOUNG MINDS OF THE WORLD?
Yo! Art save lives!! And the youth is very important to me. Art is a honest expression that the youth need to understand and embrace within themselves. My niece draw and I felt so good helping her define her image of her own creation
DID YOU GO TO SCHOOL TO LEARN WHAT YOU KNOW ABOUT ART OR WAS IT SELF TAUGHT?
I went to school for graphic design but never graduated. I actually was kicked out. But the style i’m doing now was kinda self
taught with the help of my people. I didn’t know it was labeled or considered vector artwork. I just kept creating find diffcult
subjest matters to make me better. I’m still growing but I look back at my old artwork and be like “sheeesssh! people use to like this?”
hahaha. It’s about growing and getting better.
WHAT ARE SOME WORDS OF ENCOURAGEMENT THAT YOUR WOULD GIVE A YOUNG ARTIST?
stick to what you love. doing. If it’s art. Never be scared to do reserach yo add a true identiy to what your creating.
The best thing in the world is to have some srt with actually facts or history to it.
] WHAT UNDERSTANDING DO YOU WANT PEOPLE TO TAKE FROM YOUR ARTWORK?
Well if the understanding become inspiration that’ll be a perfect thing in my eyes. i’m very sontent with getting props but I rather her that my artwork just made you want to be creative in some shape or form
DO YOU FEEL THAT SOME PEOPLE CREATE BARRIERS IN THE ART INDUSTRY SO THAT CREATIVE ARTIST’S WORK WONT GET THE PROPER APPRECIATION AND SPOTLIGHT? IF SO, WHAT WOULD YOU SAY TO THEM?
Hip hop might be the perfect example of this. smh. Once you make up your mind to make what you do or love a business. Expect instant barriers but if you push hard and create a fan base with
whatever you creating them barriers can only hold you so long. But it’s a never ending battle if you not prepared for it. And also. Get a team if possible. A group of people that support you and want you to win
